AbCellera is breaking the barriers of conventional drug development to propel antibody-based medicines from target to clinic. We are a team of scientists, engineers, creatives, and business professionals who believe that advancing science enhances lives. We have developed technologies to unlock high-value drug targets, including antibody-drug conjugates and T-cell engagers for cancer, and complex transmembrane proteins for indications such as metabolic and endocrine conditions, pain, and autoimmunity.

We are looking for a Research Technician with hands-on laboratory experience in protein purification to join our multidisciplinary team. You are a highly motivated and self-directed individual with protein purification experience, and someone who is excited to help us generate Antibody Drug Conjugates (ADCs). You are a team-player who thrives in a fast-paced work environment with multiple competing priorities, and above all, someone who can learn and grow with us.

How you might spend your days:

  • Supporting antibody drug discovery programs by executing midscale antibody conjugation and purification
  • Contributing to purification method development and troubleshooting
  • Supporting antibody purification workflows with preparation of buffers, sample handling, and data analysis
  • Assessing critical quality attributes of ADC candidates by performing a range of characterization assays; including, but not limited to, aSEC, icIEF, CE-SDS, HIC and other HPLC characterization assays
  • Collaborating with teammates to solve problems, analyze, interpret and communicate data
  • Supporting and working with members from various teams to meet project deliverables and timelines
  • Growing your technical skill set and engaging in professional development

We’d love to hear from you if:

  • You have hands-on experience with protein purification in a laboratory setting; experience with or exposure to AKTA or FPLC chromatography would be a plus
  • You have a BSc in Biochemistry or related field, and a strong understanding of protein biophysical properties
  • You think critically, are curious, and are excited to learn about and work with ADCs
  • You are a creative problem solver and fast learner who believes in team work to tackle the most challenging scientific problems
  • You are self-motivated and have the initiative and drive to meet goals under tight project timelines
  • You have excellent documentation, organizational, and communication skills with impeccable attention to detail

What we offer

AbCellera’s hiring range for this role is CAD $53,900 - $67,300 annually, commensurate with your education and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to base salary, we offer equity, annual bonus dependent on team and company performance, and a 6% (non-match) RRSP contribution.

You will have a CAD $1,500 annual Active Lifestyle Allowance, annual vacation, professional development opportunities, and comprehensive health benefits. Scientific and technical mentorship is a priority. And you’ll find we prioritize teams and social groups to build community and connections across AbCellera.
